While we were at the school, the same school my oldest son attends, I figured we would stop by and say hi. I LOVED when my parents came to say hi to me or came to have lunch with me. It was such a cool surprise! So I thought he would enjoy it too.
It was their lunchtime so we just popped in really quick to the lunchroom and found him sitting with his friends. A lot of the kids were waving and saying hi to me because I am a room parent for L's class, know some of their parents and see them at Cub Scouts. Logan was really surprised to see us and smiled and kinda acted shy. I just rubbed his head and patted his back and said my hello's and wished him a good day. Then left.
That afternoon when I got home L had just gotten off of the bus and when I walked in the house I interrupted a conversation L was having with my husband. All I heard was, " Don't tell Mama...".
Of course I am going to ask what happened or what is going on after I hear that! They both were really quiet and so I asked again "Did you get in trouble at school? Did something happen?" Still nothing. Then my husband just says "L got embarrassed at school today." I said "Who embarrassed you?!" To which L responds "You did! When you visited me at lunch!"
Uh...shot to the heart! I was all "Oooo...kkkk...What did I do that embarrassed you?"
Apparently, rubbing your kids head and patting his back while making a nice visit to him at lunch is completely unacceptable in the first grade! Like, mortifying, I guess.
I proceeded to ask him who was making fun of him or who said something to him about me coming there? To which he responded "No one! I was just really embarrassed by it!"
To which I responded, "Well, I am really glad that you let me know this because next time I come to visit you at school I will be wearing a really fancy dress and I will come right over to you and give you the biggest hugs and kisses you could ever imagine. Then you will really know what embarrassing is!"
Make sure you wear bright red lipstick so when you kiss his face it'll leave a mark ;)
ReplyDeletehaha! I will totally not forget to do that! It will happen one day ;)
